Personal Care Assistant Careers
Personal Care Assistants provide hands-on support to older adults and others who need help with everyday personal care while continuing to live in the comfort of their own homes.
A Role Built on Trust, Respect & Compassion
Personal Care is some of the most personal help a caregiver can provide. You may assist someone with bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility or other activities they can no longer safely manage on their own.
That means the way you provide care matters just as much as the task itself.
We look for caregivers who can provide hands-on assistance while respecting a client’s dignity, privacy, routines and independence.
It’s More Than Completing a Checklist
A good Personal Care Assistant does not simply rush through tasks.
You are entering someone’s home and helping with things they may have done independently their entire life.
Patience, communication and respect are essential. The goal is to help the client safely do as much as they can while providing assistance where they need it.

A Typical Shift Might Look Like…
No two clients are exactly alike. Your responsibilities will depend on the client’s individual plan of care, abilities, preferences and routine.
You’ll Work From an Individualized Plan of Care
Personal Care clients are assessed by a Registered Nurse, and caregivers receive instructions based on the client’s individualized care needs.
You are not expected to guess what should be done. The care plan helps explain the assistance the client needs, important safety considerations and how services should be provided.
Could Personal Care Be the Right Role for You?
Personal Care requires someone who is comfortable helping people with very personal activities while remaining patient, respectful and professional.
You also need to pay attention. A change in a client’s mobility, behavior, skin condition, appetite or overall routine may be important information for the office or nurse to know.
The best Personal Care Assistants understand that caregiving involves both helping and observing.

Personal Care Includes More Than Hands-On Care
Personal Care Assistants may also perform the same types of companion and household tasks our Companion Caregivers provide — including meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, errands, reminders and companionship. The difference is that Personal Care Assistants can also provide the hands-on assistance identified in the client’s care plan.
